VOXL 2 I/O
Product Description
VOXL 2 I/O (M0065) is a UART/PX4IO expander board that adds S.Bus R/C input and eight channels of PWM output to VOXL 2 and VOXL 2 Mini. Use the PWM outputs to drive servos for gimbal and payload control, actuate landing gear, or command up to eight single-channel ESCs.
The board connects to the host over a single UART, which also supplies its power, and is managed by the voxl2-io driver in voxl-px4. At 4 grams and 25 x 33 mm, it adds capability without meaningfully affecting your SWaP budget.
Product Specifications

| Memory | 20 KB RAM / 64 KB Flash |
| Inputs | S.Bus R/C (J3, USART3) |
| Outputs | 8 PWM channels (400 Hz PWM, 800 Hz OneShot125) |
| LEDs | 3 status LEDs (1x RGB) |
| Host Interface | UART with power (J4, 3.3 V) |
| Debug | SWD / programming header (J5) |
| Dimensions | 25 mm x 33 mm x 7.2 mm |
| Weight | 4 g |
| Firmware | VOXL 2 I/O firmware (shared bootloader and firmware base with VOXL ESC, SDK 1.1.1 and later) |
Note: on current firmware, Spektrum receivers connect directly to VOXL 2 using the spektrum_rc driver rather than through VOXL 2 I/O. Spektrum input through this board is supported only by the legacy PX4IO firmware.
Software Features
- Supported by the
voxl2-iodriver in voxl-px4 - Per-channel PWM output control for servos, gimbals and single-channel ESCs
- S.Bus receiver support with output pass-through on J3
- Field-updatable firmware over the host UART
Technical Details
Legacy Guide (SDK 1.1.0 and older)
Firmware Update for SDK 1.1.1 and Later
VOXL 2 I/O boards purchased before 2024 shipped with the legacy PX4IO firmware and require a bootloader update over the debug header to work with SDK 1.1.1 and newer. The update can be performed in the field — see the firmware guide — or contact us with your address and unit count to arrange a swap.
