M0173 VOXL 2 Starling 2 Camera Front End

Product Description

The M0173 Starling 2 image sensor front-end adapter expands VOXL 2's video and computer vision capability by breaking out camera groups J6 and J7 into four micro-coax camera connectors, a PMD ToF connector, and a connector for an M0187 Lepton plus rangefinder board. It exposes the same camera configurations used on Starling 2.

M0173 is compatible with VOXL 2 only, and the D0014/D0012 drone family it serves uses kernel config 1. Check /sys/module/voxl_platform_mod/parameters/config to confirm the correct kernel configuration.

Software Features

  • Hardware image sensor synchronizationvoxl-fsync-mod ships in SDK 1.3+ and drives a sync pulse on GPIO 109 (30 Hz default). Running voxl-configure-cameras for a C26, C27 or C8 configuration sets fsync_en in voxl-camera-server.conf and installs slave-mode AR0144 drivers so the tracking cameras capture synchronized frames.
  • Downward rangefinder — VL53L1CX accessible over /dev/i2c-4, configured in voxl-rangefinder-server.conf
  • FLIR Lepton — accessible over /dev/i2c-4 and /dev/spidev0.0, configured in voxl-lepton-server.conf
  • Works with the VOXL SDK for video streaming, deep-learning object recognition, GPS-denied navigation with VIO, and SLAM
